Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA)
Petia Georgieva is Associate Professor with habilitation in Computer Science at the University of
Aveiro and a researcher with the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro
(IEETA), Portugal. She has been involved in projects devoted to applying AI algorithms for real
problems like image processing, 5g/6g network management, material science, brain computer
interfaces. Author of peer-reviewed papers, some of which are award-winning, she serves on advisory
boards and invited speaker at international conferences. She is a senior member of the International
Neural Network Society. She has been a member of the Organising Committee of many international
conferences (WCCI-IJCNN 2026, IJCNN2025, IbPRIA 2022, IJCNN 2019, ICANN’07, etc.).
